Rottweilers Puppies - History

Strength, agility and watchfulness are characteristics that Rottweilers inherited from their ancient Roman ancestors, who served as drove dogs, shepherd dogs, and watchdogs. They were also used as guard dogs and accompanied troops on marches. After just one of such campaigns, a group of Romans and their dogs settled in South Germany. The dogs were crossbred with some local species near what was later to be the Town of Rottweil; hence, there was born a new breed of dogs known as Rottweilers.
The necessity-to pull heavy weight carts, guard their masters and their property, track and catch runaway slaves and take part in military action-has firmly and forever inbred impressive strength, intelligence, vigilance and aggression into what we now refer to as pure Rottweilers. Throughout the history of Rottweiler keeping, these qualities have been
ingrained enough to be genetically predetermined. Therefore, it is imperative that Rottweiler fanciers, when buying a puppy, lay strict emphasis on proper care and training of the pups.
Rottweilers Puppies - General Information
Rottweilers are active, robust and sturdy dogs. They require particular care, supervision and training. For certain types of personalities and homes, the Rottweiler is not a good choice. Only a true and experienced dog lover should be allowed to have one. If you spend most of your time away from home and are not too tough by nature, it will be better for you to pick out another dog or no dog at all. This is because it takes a great deal of care, patience and attention to keep a Rottweiler.
Rottweilers Puppies - Temperament
Rottweilers are naturally alert, confident and protective. Even a smallest sign of threat may trigger an outbreak of aggression. More often than not, Rottweilers are excessively aggressive towards unfamiliar people and other dogs and animals. If there are small children in the house, a close and uninterrupted supervision is a must. Some Rottweilers are likely to exercise "bumping" and shepherding on toddlers, adults and other pets, an action, which they used in the old days, to administer on cattle. Some may display intolerance of children and must be excluded from the family. If properly trained, they display great loyalty and obedience toward their owners.
Genetic background is another important point to consider. It is better for fanciers to find as much information about the breed in general, the breeder and the pedigree. Socialization and upbringing are vital because Rottweilers have the aptitude to automatically absorb qualities, positive or negative, during the puppyhood stage.
