The Clubs have developed an advanced system of testing, called the Breed Suitability Test (BST). The intention of the procedure is to check the degree of species matching to the Federal Cynologique International (FCI) standards. Rottweilers are tested for endurance, protectiveness, tolerance, gunshot indifference and courage.

Body parameters and health are also thoroughly examined. Those include proper distribution of color of the coat, body size proportions, complete dentition and the presence of all-important scissors bite. At the end of these examinations, the USRC provides written summaries and evaluation critiques, which are noted in the Breed Book.

The USRC is authorized to issue Registration Certificates and conduct registration procedures. It has numerous Rottweiler health care establishments and organizations that provide general information sources for the committed and for those ready to keep a Rottweiler. It provides comprehensive reviews on the history of the breed, as well as on factors that are likely to affect the current condition of the breed.

The USRC has an extensive membership network in North America. Anyone willing to join a local club is given magazines and manual instructions on history, descriptive aspects, caring and training. After passing the Breed Suitability Test, owners of Rottweilers are included in the lists of members and become entitled to present their dogs for Conformation Shows.
